经延伸调查，K731次列车由大同站开往广州白云站，太原客运段担当乘务，未途经西安。2月21日至3月2日节后返程高峰期间，该次列车硬座客座率为140%以下，均在正常范围内，列车工作人员在值乘中，均按规定开展了车厢内巡视和客运服务，未发现有硬座下躺人的情况。
